Foreign and local students from three Olympic Education Model Schools in
Beijing voiced their invitation Friday to children all around the world for
participation in the 2008 Olympics, in the celebration of the 700-day countdown
to the Games.
Students from the Beijing City International School (BCIS), Beijing No. 2
Experimental Primary School and Beijing No. 4 High School jointly presented a
variety of performances to welcome the Olympics.
"The challenging task of welcoming the 2008 Olympics should involve not just
the BOCOG (Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee) but also the support of
everyone," said Julian Williams, principal of the BCIS.
"Today, with people from different nationalities and backgrounds, we are
using one voice to invite children and youngsters around the world to join the
2008 Olympic Games."
A total of 500 schools have been awarded the title "Olympic Education Model
School" by the BOCOG. All of these schools will focus on Olympic education and
the development of students with positive qualities, expand students'
international horizons, increase students' cultural values and physical
development, and execute a spectrum of colorful and uniquely designed Olympic
Education activities.
The Beijing Olympics will take place from Aug. 8 to Aug.24, 2008.
