A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pledged to further implement the strategy of rule of law on Friday, at a workshop to mark the 10th launching anniversary of the fundamental guideline.

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, delivered a speech at the gathering, calling for hard efforts to build China into a socialist nation governed by law.

Other senior officials attending the workshop included Zhou Yongkang, Gu Xiulian, Xiao Yang and Zhou Tienong.

In his speech, Luo called for seriously studying the recent instructions of CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao, which set the tone for the forthcoming 17th CPC National Congress, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the important thought of "Three Represents," which claims that CPC represents, in China, the requirements for the development of advanced productivity, the orientation for the development of advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the maximal majority of the people.
