Tens of thousands of snails seemingly appeared from nowhere and were found climbing trees outside a factory in An'shan, Liaoning Province, following a shower.

Wildlife experts said the snails lived in a ditch by the factory and reasoned the rain on Saturday caused water levels to rise, forcing the snails to climb the trees.

"We have never seen so many snails here," residents living near the 1,000 m stretch of road said.
