A Guinness World Record for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) has been set in Taipei County, Taiwan Province, with 3,249 residents simultaneously giving the kiss of life.

Ranging from a four-year-old girl to a 97-year-old grandma, they gathered in a public square in teams of six to give simulated CPR to plastic manikins.

The four-year-old particularly impressed onlookers with her skills in calling a first-aid hotline, pinching the nose of the dummy and helping it "breathe".

Finally, organizers announced they had broken the world record, created by 2,308 Austrians last year. Videos of the activity will be mailed to the Guinness World Records office for final approval.
