A man surnamed Yan sued a highway management company on Tuesday for 1.65 million yuan ($220,000) after he was injured in a traffic accident.

Yan was driving on the Beijing-Shijiazhuang Freeway when he swerved to avoid a dog that jumped into the road, causing his car to tip over and his legs to be broken.

"It was the company's poor management that caused the accident," he claimed in court. The freeway company has denied liability. The fate of the dog was unknown.
