A pig farmer distraught by the repeated loss of livestock caused by lightning strikes in Xiamen, Fujian Province, has sought professional help.

In June the farmer, surnamed Gong, lost five pigs after they were hit by lightning. Since then, every time there has been a thunderstorm the farmer's pigpen has been struck.

Experts determined the pigsty was acting as a lightning conductor and suggested he installed a lightning rod.
