A 7-year-old chimpanzee surprisingly woke up twice during its first physical examination, despite being drugged.

The chimpanzee, living in a wildlife zoo in Qingdao, Shandong Province, became unconscious after three anesthetic injections. However, about 10 minutes later, it suddenly stood up on its feet. It snarled and angrily wielded its arms, scaring all the workers. Doctors immediately gave it three more shots. Later, while being moved to a stretcher, the chimp struggled to rise again, but finally collapsed.
