Four townships had no electricity after a woman climbed a high-voltage pylon to commit suicide, in Guangzhou's Huadu District last week.

The blackout affected at least 100,000 residents in the district's Timian, Huashan, Huadong and Shiling townships.

The incident took place at about 5:30 pm when a woman climbed on top of the 50-m-tall pylon. Police and fire fighters arrived quickly and cut the electricity supply.

Electricity was turned on eight hours later when the woman was successfully rescued by fire fighters.
