A comatose university student named Li Peicheng woke up after hearing a recording of his classmates' voices wishing him well in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province.

Li fell into a coma after being diagnosed with cerebrovascular disease 17 days ago. Upon hearing the news, twenty-nine students from Li's class recorded a series of messages hoping for a speedy recovery for their classmate.

Nurses played the recording every day.

To their surprise, Li woke up on Wednesday after a week of listening to the messages. Li, who comes from a poor family in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is now recovering.
