A 3-year-old girl packed her bags and decided to leave home on Saturday after her father beat her for drawing pictures on a newly decorated wall in the house.

Ling Ling (not her real name) in Xining, capital of Qinghai Province, was stopped by her doting mother, who felt her father was being too harsh.

Educationists said the episode illustrates the worrying way some parents treat their children - being too harsh or too pampering can confuse young ones and affect them negatively.
