A young mother is teaching her three-year-old daughter to call her "elder sister" for fear of aging too fast.

"I'm upset whenever my daughter calls me mom in public. I don't want to look old as a mother," said the 26-year-old mother, surnamed Shang, while fetching her child from kindergarten in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.

"She is psychologically not prepared to be a mother," said a psychologist, surnamed Zhou.

"It's a problem plaguing other young parents." Zhou added it was unhealthy for parents to adopt such roles for their children.
