A man, surnamed Yan, sought police help last week after his car was seriously damaged by a turtle falling from an eight-floor building in Haikou, capital of Hainan Province.

Yan parked his car in a residential area but when he returned he found the sunroof was broken and a turtle was inside the car.

The turtle was said to be unhurt, but since no one would admit ownership Yan complained to police and they launched an inquiry.

Yan claims the repairs will cost 10,000 yuan ($1,350).
