Cockfighting is like a second job for construction site security guard Diao Youcai, 54, of Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

"You could say it's my second job, but I can't earn money from it. Cockfighting is old-fashioned; I train the cocks just for fun, because there's no market for their performance. But I hope cockfighting continues," Diao said.

Diao trains his 21 birds every day and said he even massages them after the sessions.
