An online post from a man seeking a temporary girlfriend for the coming Spring Festival caused a stir among young people in Chongqing municipality.

The person behind the ad, surnamed Deng, said he is 26 and does not want a girlfriend. But his parents ask him why he is still single every time he goes home to see them.

"I just want a girl who is willing to pretend to be my girlfriend to make my parents happy. I will pay her," Deng wrote in the ad.

The posting drew the attention of thousands of people, and six girls ended up offering their services. However, the move also drew a lot of criticism from people who felt Deng was attempting to trick his parents.
