Parents and students have recently been carrying weapons as they walk to school in Dongjindian village, Dengfeng, central China's Henan province.

The reason? A mad dog bit 18 children in a single day last week.

Altogether, more than 30 people have been bitten in the past week.

The youngest victim was only three years old, while the oldest was a 66-year-old woman.
