A PhD student surnamed Deng of Wuhan, Hubei province, whose home was recently burgled, has published his e-mail address in newspapers hoping the thief will return his PhD dissertation stored in the computer. Deng also lost 7,000 yuan.

Deng has to defend his dissertation soon, and all the materials are stored in his laptop computer.

Deng said he was hoping the thief would have a conscience and e-mail the dissertation.
