Sex slaves
Comments on "US House urges Japan to apologize for WWII sex slaves" (China Daily, July 31)
Shame on the Japanese troops. It is tragic they deny what they did during WWII. I hope they can be more honest. The women who suffered in the war are the innocent ones.

Japan is called on to be accountable. The country has always escaped scrutiny from the world.
As a foreigner living in Japan, I can tell you that some here are ignorant of history or in a state of denial. Except when it suits their needs, to portray themselves as a "victim".

Developing nation
Comment on "Wu Yi: China is no threat to anyone" (China Daily, August 1)
There is no doubt that while the great cities of China reflect an emerging country, there is still a great deal to achieve in the important areas of Chinese society.
China is still a developing nation and is well on the way to achieving a well-off society. This is most important and not whether China has the greatest number of rich people.

Market reforms
Comments on "Gov'ts warned against price intervention" (China Daily, July 31)
Prices should be freely set by the market.
It is impossible for governments to know all the facts and to gather all the information that is necessary to determine prices.
China's success lies in its market reforms. Its reformers have opened a golden gate that has flooded China with prosperity and the flood has just started to spread to all parts of China.

In-depth coverage
I read the business section of China Daily every day. As a foreigner teaching economics and business in China, I find Business Indepth most useful. It has opened my eyes to a lot of things in China that I did not know.
My suggestion to improve the business section would be to have more coverage of the financial markets in China. It often carries helpful graphics that illustrate the main theme.
Other sections in China Daily that I really like reading are the Insight section and the Comment section. These are essential to anyone trying to understand China.
I find the Insight page extremely informative, as it takes issues in China and provides a fair and accurate picture of them.
I also like the Comment page as it helps me understand a wide variety of opinions from great professors in China. It helps me to understand China better and also understand different points of view from different perspectives.
