Comment on "Beijing lambastes Taiwan leader's UN bid" (China Daily web, September 16, 2007))
Fair-minded people, whether they like or dislike the People's Republic of China, must admit that Taiwan province is part of China.

Preventing accidents
Safety management is to stop accidents before they happen.
Very often prevention costs money, but how can the loss of one life be?
The loss of a life impacts on many people and cannot be fixed in terms of money.
The English saying "Prevention is better than cure" is the ideology that all corporations and private owners need to adopt to stop the number of work related accidents.

Stored-value cards
Comment on Hong Liang's column "Stored-value cards problem" (China Daily, September 15, 2007)
Hong Liang's friend must be a person who has not been to Shanghai because its transport card can be used in all taxis.
But it cannot be used in most retail outlets and fast food shops like the Hong Kong Octopus card.
In fact, my previous company used to buy and give away stored value cards to staff as rewards and incentives.

Action on inflation
Comments on "Curb Inflation Now" (China Daily web, September 15, 2007)
I agree with the writer's views. We need to do something to stop inflation as quickly as possible. For the rich, it is not a big deal, but for the poor, it is unacceptable.

First, I want to say that China is not known as a land of hunger, it is known as a country that will host the Olympic Games.
Second, I live in the countryside in Jining city of Shandong Province. It is true the price of many food items have increased, but the situation is far from serious. In fact I do not feel life has became too hard. We are still able to afford the daily necessities. And, as far as I know, there are no people in the villages around us who are short of food.
