Green GDP
Comment on "FDI steered on high-tech, green path" (China Daily, November 8)
Foreign capital should be directed into high-tech and low-pollution industries to make more contributions to the economy.
We can't develop based on pollution and the heavy consumption of our resources. We need a green and clean GDP!

Civil service jobs
Comment on "Chances of getting a govt job: 60 to 1" (China Daily website, November 8)
I think the reason is that civil servants can get stable salaries, good benefits and decent social status.
However, I have never taken being a civil servant into consideration. It indeed is up to each individual.

Comment on "Girl born with 8 limbs undergoes surgery" (China Daily website, November 6)
I hope this girl can overcome her condition and recover soon.
Everybody has the right to lead a normal life.
It is nice to hear that so many kind-hearted people have given donations. It could help a lot.

Leave tests be
Comment on Kang Bing's column "Time to revisit the exam system" (China Daily, November 2)
The problem is the strong potential for corruption and favoritism.
These phenomena always exist, but examinations eliminate a certain degree of unfairness. Besides, the content of the test is constantly being updated - this is normal.
I'm afraid any radical change will be destructive. It is better to let the children work hard and compete.

Recycle water
Comment on Li Xing's column "Toilets take on a new meaning" (China Daily, November 1)
Every article by Ms Li is a masterpiece. Her piece on Chinese toilets is another gem.
Tremendous improvements have been made in cities over the past five years. China is obviously on the right track.
It is equally true that flush toilets are water guzzlers, and China cannot afford to mistreat nature's most precious life-sustaining resource like that. But who says we have to waste water down the toilet drain?
Recycling has to become more widespread and be made mandatory in any town with more than 40,000 inhabitants.
