Strict conditions weed out all but super sperm donors

The rigorous requirements of the sperm bank that officially started trial operations in Henan province a year ago have restricted its donors to just 58.

The bank, housed in the Third Hospital Affiliated to Henan University of Medical Science, requires, in addition to a strict bill of health, that prospective donors be at least 170 cm in height, well-proportioned, no less than 50 kg in weight and good-looking.

They must also be less than 45 years old.

The bank imposes these conditions to ensure it stores only the highest quality sperm, Li Yushan, director of the sperm bank, said.
