What to expect:

This is the most popular route for adventure-lovers. Starting from Lhasa, it gives you ample time to get acclimatized in the world's highest city at 3,600m above sea level and immersed in Lhasa's stunning wonders. Punctuated by memorable monastery towns (Gyantse, Shigatse and Shegar) and nomadic encampments, this trip guides you across six major passes at altitudes above 4,500m and through a dry plateau. The ambitious journey continues towards the base of Mt. Everest with a visit to the highest monastery at Rongbuk before it ends in Kathmandu.

Itinerary:

Lhasa --> Gyantse --> Shigatse --> Shegar --> Nepal border --> Katmandu (More than 1,000 km)

Scenic spots on the way:

Sera Monastery --> Tashilunpo Monastery --> Rongbuk Monastery.


                   

Day-by-day Itinerary:

Lhasa-->Gyantse(Distance: 250km)

D1: Arrive at Lhasa and check in at a hotel, get acclimatized.

D2: One-day tour in Lhasa: Ride to Sera Monastery. Stay overnight in a hotel.

D3: Cycle to a campsite at the foot of Khamp-La Camp overnight.

D4: Pass Khamp-La (4,794m above sea level) and bike 104km downwards to Nakartse county (4,475m above sea level). Stay overninght in a hotel.

D5: Go over Karo-La 5,010m above sea level) and descend to a campsite below the Simi LaCamp here.

D6: Bike to Gyantse (4,055m above sea level) via Simi La (4,330m above sea level). Stay overnight in a hotel.
