Gelugpa monasteries in Tibet. Then drive to Norbu Lingka - the Summer Palace of
the Dalai Lama.

A: One
more day to Yamdrok Lake Yamdrok Lake: Located several hundred
meters below the old road between Gyanste and Lhasa, (4,794m above sea level).
Far in the distance is the huge shadow of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang(7,191m above sea
level).
B: One more day to Namsto Lake Namsto Lake:
Namsto, the second-largest salt lake in China, is about 190km away to the
northwest from Lhasa, It is over 70km long and 30km wide. Namtso is a tidal lake
and in clear weather, the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains dotted
with tents of local nomads are splendid.
C: One more day to
Gandan Monastery or Tsurphu Monastery Gandan Monastery: Gandan, the
first Gelugpa monastery is 40km away from the northeast of Lhasa. With
spectacular views of the surrounding Kyi-chu Valley as the background, Ganden
offers you a unique experience. If you only have time for one monastery outside
Lhasa, Ganden would probably be the best choice.
Tsurphu Monastery:
Tsurphu Monastery, about 70km away from the west of Lhasa, is the seat of the
Karmapa branch of Tibetan Buddhism. Karmapa is also known as the Black Hats, a
title that dates back to 1256.
Tips: This route is perfect for those who
are coming to Tibet for the first time and usually live in comparatively low
altitudes, children, and those over 50.
