The 21-year-old collected 297.00 points to win the gold, beating Bazhina Nadezhad of Russia to the second place in 293 points.
"Before the competitions, I did not think she can win the gold, because she was not the best one among the divers, " said coach Zeng Wei, who guided Yang to win her first Asian championship last year.
Taking a gold in the international field gave some confidence to Yang, who already put eyes on the Beijing Olympic Games, saying, "I hope I could do better in the future, and get the chance to participate in the Olympic Games."
Lt O Kim of DPR Korea took the bronze medal in 282 points.
Yang's teammate Lou Xia finished the seventh after failing in the fourth jump.
"Actually, Lou was full of potential. I think after participating more competitions, she would become more stable," said Zeng.
Yang's teammate Li Shixin claimed the men's 1 meter springboard title on Monday.
