MILAN, July 16 - Ronaldinho will be able to take part in the Olympics with Brazil, his new club AC Milan said on July 16, 2008.

Ronaldinho had been told by former club Barcelona that he could not go to the August 8-24 Beijing Games despite being named as an overage player in Brazil's squad.

"We respect the commitment he took before coming to Milan. If he had already been a Rossoneri he would not have gone but he will become ours during the week so we will let him go to the Olympics," chief executive Adriano Galliani told a news conference.

The playmaker has yet to actually sign a contract at Milan but is expected to shortly after the clubs agreed an initial 21 million euro ($33.5 million) transfer on Tuesday.

New Milan team mate and compatriot Kaka was stopped by the club from going to the Games but coach Carlo Ancelotti said the tournament could be of benefit to 28-year-old Ronaldinho, who suffered fitness and form problems at Barca last season.

"It will be a chance for him to find form. When he returns he will be ready, it will only take time to insert him into our system," Ancelotti said. The Italian league season starts on August 30.
