Climate challenge(China Daily)Updated: 2007-01-09 07:18 Like China, many African countries face the serious challenge of climate change. The drought and desertification in recent years have made some African nations like Namibia very vulnerable to the impact of climate change. Last November, a convention on climate change under the framework of the UN was held in Kenya, in which the participating Namibian Minister of Environment and Tourism noted that the climate change would have very negative influence upon the South African region including Namibia. This clearly indicates that the challenge brought by climate change is common to all countries rather than Africa or China alone. The world is becoming increasingly interdependent in terms of economic development and non-traditional security. Countries all over the world should cooperate more closely in dealing with the challenges such as climate change and environmental pollution to save our planet.
