A big hand should be given to the news of Chinese President Hu Jintao's call for a better Sino-Japanese relationship (China Daily, January 9, 2007).

China and Japan have become increasingly interdependent in terms of not only economy but also security. The two giants are the deciding factors that have great influence upon the stability and prosperity of the region as well as the world. Both could get hurt if their bilateral relations worsened.

I sincerely hope that the relations between the two Asian powers can get better.
