Moral decline(China Daily)Updated: 2007-01-12 07:12 I felt Raymond Zhou's column "We still need sense of right and wrong" (China Daily, January 6, 2007) deserved praise. It's a thought provoking, poignant and timely article. The trend of society unfortunately tends downwards, man's baser instincts and nature come to the fore in most cases. I would opine that it could be a futile exercise to attempt to lift morality/societal mores when there is no clear concept of what "morality" is and why it is necessary to the future of humankind. It's not only China. Morality, a sense of right and wrong, compassion and caring for one's fellow is on the decline worldwide. Derek Crookes Shanghai (China Daily 01/12/2007 page11) |
