The understandings on a future peace deal between Israel and Syria following a series of talks between their representatives have drawn hope to the Middle East.

The peace efforts made by the two countries should be applauded. The Middle East region has been in a state of insecurity for many decades partly due to the conflicts between Israel and the Arab world.

Mutual hostility can do nothing but contribute to accelerating tensions. I wish a peaceful future for the Middle East region.
