Mind the gap(China Daily)Updated: 2007-01-19 07:22 Comments on You Nuo's column "Needed: a series on the fall of big powers" ( China Daily, January 15, 2007) I know this place has developed incredibly, and it shows, but it's still nowhere near a wholly developed country. People are living it up in Beijing and Shanghai and sending housing costs through the roof. Meanwhile the countryside is more of a ghetto than Detroit. Is anyone going to narrow the gap? And can someone tell the trashy new-money people to be a little less arrogant? A passerby On China Daily website China should stick with the harmonious concept as a basis of development to minimize the chance of a big fall.
