Comment s on Liu Shinan's column "Local officials stupidly ban solar energy" (China Daily, January 17, 2007)

In past years people have thought profit, prosperity, and growth are the most important things. Since then we have polluted the air, water, the oceans, and our land. We have global warming.

And we still have millions and millions of automobiles, and we still pollute and destroy everything we touch in the name of progress and profit. I hope we can learn before it's too late.

It's easy to see that it is not only a matter of political performance but also interests.

Why did they ban the clean energy? Don't they know solar energy can play a major role in environmental protection?
