Prior to coming to the China Daily Brendan spent the last three years teaching in Haikou and Xian. He has taught at university and colleges in China, Australia and the UK and also at the high school and primary school level. It was through his work teaching Chinese students at an Australian university that compelled him to come to China. In the field of writing Brendan has been published most recently in the Tiger Airways In-flight magazine ‘Tiger Tales’, writing about Hainan, Sanya, and in the upcoming issue the sister city relationship between Haikou and Darwin. He has also written travel articles for the Thai English Language Newspaper, The Bangkok Post and the Taiwanese English Language Newspaper, The Taipei Times. He was editor of his university newspaper back in Northern Australia and is grateful for the experience to have interviewed politicians, sporting icons, film actors, directors, authors, journalists and educationalists. A competent feature photojournalist his previous work featured in a national touring exhibition ‘Koorlongka’, that included images of the remote desert Indigenous people of Australia’s northwest.
