Chinese Duo win Ordina Open doubles title

Reigning Australian Open champions Yan Zi and Zheng Jie collected their fourth doubles title of 2006 and the sixth of their fledgling careers at the Ordina Open in Netherlands.

The top-seeded Chinese duo defeated the unseeded pairing of Ana Ivanovic and Maria Kirilenko, 3-6 6-2 6-2 at the Tier III event.

This is first time for Chinese tennis players to win a grass-court title.

In the singles, number two seed Dinara Safina, aged 20, needed three sets on Friday to reach her second final of 2006, beating unseeded Eleni Daniilidou, 6-3 3-6 6-4.

Safina will meet with Dutch teen Michaella Krajicek on Saturday. The 17-year-old Krajicek scored her first-ever Top 10 victory, coming from behind to oust top seed and world number eight Elena Dementieva, 1-6 7-6(5) 6-4.

The singles champion takes home US$28,000 while the runner-up pockets US$14,750.
