Three jumbos killed in road accident in western Zambia

Four people escaped death when a truck they were travelling in hit into a horde of elephants near Simonga area along Livingstone-Sesheke road in Western province of Zambia, according to Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) on Tuesday.

The accident which occurred around 7 p.m. Monday left three elephants dead and one seriously wounded.

A check by ZANIS crew found motorists and few people gathered at the scene of the accident while the driver of the truck had already been rushed to one of the hospitals in Livingstone of Southern province.

One of the passengers told ZANIS at the scene that the driver of the truck sustained a minor injury on his right foot while the three escaped unhurt.

A wildlife Police officer said at the scene that most of the motorists using Livingstone-Kazungula route do not obey traffic rules as they do not adhere to the advice police officers give them.
