Morocco holds ISESCO conference

Islamic Organization for Education, Sciences and Culture (ISESCO)'s executive council 28th session opened here Monday with about 50 member states in attendance.

During the session, participants are expected to review two reports to be presented by ISESCO's director general Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri.

The first report concerns the end year accounts for the 2006 financial exercise, the audit report and the report to be tabled by the financial commission for the year 2006. The second one will be on contributions by the member states to the organization's budget and the overall financial situation.

Also to be reviewed during the meeting will be, among others, administrative and legal issues, notably the creation of an Islamic parliament for the youth and election of the financial control commission.

Speaking at opening of the meeting, Habib Malki, president of ISESCO's 9th general conference, who is also Morocco's minister for national education and higher learning, said the three-year plan of action for the period from 2007 to 2009 adopted by ISESCO, forecasts an overall strategic vision encompassing different specialties in a new complementary framework.

On his part, Altwaijri affirmed ISESCO has just embarked on its new era in its history noting that the organization is ready than ever to face new challenges facing the Islamic world in order to achieve its stated objectives.
