The United States and its followers have intensified their attempts to stifle the DPRK militarily, Kim Jong Gak, first vice director of the General Political Department of the Korean People's Army (KPA), was cited by the official KCNA news agency as saying.

The situation on the Korean peninsular was "very serious" right now as a result of provocations by the United States and South Korea, Kim said.

The KPA will "destroy the invaders with no mercy" and realize the reunification if the United States and South Korea dared to invade the DPRK, he said.
